Finally a fresh start to a new year! I wanted to focus this year on projects that brought me both joy and relaxation. I found myself at the end of 2020 gravitating towards dishcloths. This was something different for me since socks were always my go-to knitting project. But something changed last year. I wanted more mindless knitting, something I could do fast and enjoy! This is where dishcloths came in, I found myself knitting them for gifts for the holiday season. I loved being able to give small gifts to family members where they could use it every day. I started knitting dishcloths in October, and I ended up with over 18 dishcloths in 2020.
For 2021 I'm calling this my year of Dishcloths! I will be trying to knit 1 dishcloth a week for the whole year! I'm also planning on scheduling one day of the week for me to knit on these dishcloths. I'm calling it "DishieDimanche". This means Dishie Sunday in French. My husband and I were driving the other day trying to think of a name to call it, and he so cleverly thought of Dishie Dimanche. It was just too cute not to pick it! For those of you who may not know we are a bilingual family we speak both French and English so I thought it was a perfect name.
Knit Along details
I will be hosting a fun Knit Along for this fun Dishcloth challenge. You can enter in both my Ravelry Group and Instagram. Use the #DishieDimanche2021 on both social media platforms. Please know that both crochet and knitted are accepted! Were calling this a knit along but both crafts are encouraged. The goal is to knit or crochet dishcloths throughout the year, every dishcloth is an entry. This is all meant to be just for fun, there's no stress if you only finish 1 dishcloth or if you finish 100. We are just knitting together. I will be pulling some prizes every quarter for the knitalong.
My favourite yarn to knit dishcloths with is Knit Pick's Dishie (hence the name DishieDimache). It's 100% cotton and works up beautifully. Knit Picks has SO many different colours as well as dishie ranges from solid colours (Dishie), variegated (Dishie Multi) and marled (Dishie Twist). For the KnitAlong you don't have to use Knit Picks yarn, you can use any cotton yarn you'd like.
My friends at Knit Picks sent over a HUGE order of Dishie for me to work with in 2021. They sent over all sorts of colours and from all three ranges (Solid, Twist and Multi). I wanted to put together some colour combinations for you all in case you'd love to join me this year.
Follow along on Instagram @JulieannKnitter for sneak peeks of what I'm up to!
