Have you ever seen a project and thought to yourself "I need to make this right now?" This is exactly what I thought when I saw Susan B Anderson's Christopher Bunny Pattern. Susan's patterns are written perfectly and the construction of her stuffies are all seamless.
I've previously made her Girrafe pattern for the girls and needed a second stuffy to keep him company and for the girls to fight over one lol
This pattern was exactly what I was looking for and turns out I already had the yarn/tools I needed for this project. I call this meant to be!
Yarn and Tool's for the project
For this bunny, I wanted to keep it affordable and use some stash yarn. I decided to use yarn that I had from Knit Picks, Bare Woodland Tweed yarn. This wasn't the yarn the designer called for in the pattern but I wanted to substitute it with something I had on hand. For this particular project, it wouldn't make much of a difference if my gauge was a little bigger, it would just mean the bunny would knit it larger than intended.
This yarn is a heavy worsted weight yarn with amazing tweed flecks. It's incredibly soft and I think will be perfect for this project. You can really see the different colors of tweed flecks. I can't say enough great things about this yarn, I was so excited to knit it up in this pattern.
"Functional enough for the campfire and cozy enough for the couch, this tweed yarn is a merino-alpaca blend that strikes a fine balance between rustic and refined. With just enough alpaca to take the best advantage of that downy fiber’s warmth and softness, this largely Merino yarn is warm enough for rural winters and soft enough to wear against the skin. Gently spun into a loose twist, the downy fibers are given enough play to provide both thermal efficiency and flattering drape, while still maintaining the structure necessary for excellent stitch definition and durability. Lightly tweedy, neutrally-colored viscose neps are just present enough to create a subtly rustic look without overwhelming. Appropriate for warm sweaters and garments of all sorts, this versatile yarn is soft enough for accessories worn against the skin."

This yarn retails for 10.99$ US on their site and comes in 180 yards per skein. I was able to knit the whole bunny out of one skein of yarn which was amazing.
For the needles, I used my Knit Picks Nickel Plated double pointed needle set. This set varies from a US 4 to a US 9 which is perfect for multiple projects. I have their nickel-plated interchangeable needle set which I absolutely love so I was very happy to add the DPN set to my tool stash!
These are beautifully light and smooth, I love working with them. They don't hurt my hands or wrist if I'm working on it for a few hours.
To hold all of these amazing tools I have this new Kitty Cat Tote Bag which is just perfect. It has a pocket on the inside and has a snap metal closure at the top. This can hold everything I need for the Bunny. I accompanied this with one of my Notions pouched that I have. This is a great size for larger projects and can fit everything from my stitch markers, tapestry needles, scissors, lip/hand balms, and more.
This pattern has been so much fun to knit, I LOVE how the Knit Picks needles knit up and the yarn was a perfect match. I would definitely recommend this yarn for any project, it's soft and incredible to work with. You also can't beat the price for the 100grams. I was able to get a stuffy under 15$.
I love being able to substitute yarns for items I already have on hand it keeps the costs low and helps me use up some of my stash.
I used Knit Picks Stroll for the eyes and nose I had in my stash. I used Black for the eyes and Dogwood Heather for the nose.
